How it connects

Setup in under 2 minutes

1

OAuth in 30 seconds

Click 'Connect Shopify' in Rappel. You're redirected to Shopify's OAuth screen. Grant access. That's it.

2

Historical sync

Rappel pulls your last 90 days of orders, payouts, and transactions. Large stores may take 2–5 minutes for the initial sync.

3

Real-time from then on

Webhooks keep Rappel current. New orders, refunds, and payout events arrive in seconds. No manual syncing required.

OAuth scopes: We request read_orders, read_products, read_finances, and read_payouts. Read-only. Nothing writes to your Shopify store.

Edge cases handled

The things other tools miss

Dual-processor stores

Shopify Payments and Stripe Terminal send separate payouts. Rappel reconciles both against clearing accounts and combines them in a single journal entry. A2X cannot do this automatically.

Marketplace Facilitator Tax (MFT)

Some Shopify stores are subject to MFT — where Shopify collects tax on your behalf and deducts it from your payout. Rappel detects MFT deductions and posts them to the correct Sales Tax Payable account. This is a common source of unexplained payout discrepancies.

App deductions

Shopify deducts app subscription fees, Klarna/Afterpay/BNPL fees, and other charges directly from payouts. Rappel identifies each deduction by type and maps it to the correct expense account.

Shopify Capital

If you have a Shopify Capital loan, repayments are deducted from payouts. Rappel detects Capital repayment lines and separates them from operating income — they are not revenue.

Payout timing gaps

Orders placed on one day may be paid out days later. Rappel uses clearing accounts to bridge the timing gap between when revenue is recognised (order date) and when cash arrives (payout date).
